Racin' in Phuket

Liner Notes:Written on the 20-hour flight home from Thailand, Racin' in Phuket gives you a glimpse into what it's like travelling around the world to compete in a triathlon. Or at least a triathlon held on a beautiful tropical island.

packed my bike and my helmet too
fins and snorkel, bathing suit and case of Gu
In 20 hours we'll be in Bangkok
jet-lagged, and a touch of culture shock

some curried prawns and a cold Singha beer
can't believe it took three days to get here
what the hell, it's adventure we embrace
we travelled around the world for this race

chaise lounge in the sun
coconut topped with rum

18,000 miles on this airplane
didn't know I'd be in so much damned pain
one more loop and we'll call it done
that's what you get when you're racin' in the Thai sun

that jellyfish on the swim wasn't nice
the granny gear on those hills did not suffice
the run was hot but now we're done
got our 40s and our baht and it's time to have some fun

head to BB's for a cold drink and some darts
rock the karaoke, not too smart
down the street, like Murray said, we stumble
one night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble

if paradise is what you seek
just be careful where you peek

18,000 miles on this airplane
didn't know I'd be in so much damned pain
one more loop and we'll call it done
that's what you get when you're racin' in the Thai sun

18,000 miles in the blue sky
think I'll have, have just one more mai tai
one more massage before I forget
life ain't bad when you're racin' in Phuket
