Speaking of Chrissie, most of you are aware of the numerous philanthropic efforts in which she immerses herself. One of her latest efforts is as an ambassador for Run for Japan, an effort that was recently launched to help victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The devastation and destruction, and the associated impact on the local population, is heartbreaking and we were proud to see such an immediate and heartfelt effort by the running community to pitch in and help in a way in which every runner can easily participate. The idea is simple; dedicate one or more of your regular runs (or races) to the cause, register your run at runforjapan.com, and make a donation to the cause.
The goal of this effort is to cover 24,901 miles (the distance around the world at the equator) in 28 days with at least one run dedicated from every country in the World. At last check over 450 runners had logged over 8000 miles and raised more than $17,000 so they are off to a great start. If you would like to dedicate some of your miles to the people of Japan please visit the website to read more about the effort and to register your run.
