We’ve been asked to perform at everything from marathons to triathlons to cycling events to mud runs to poker runs but there’s nothing quite like an event that hits home on so many fronts.
On August 24, 2013, the inaugural KC Century Ride will depart Union Station in Kansas City and take riders on a tour of the city’s landmarks while raising money for three incredible local beneficiaries: Children’s Mercy Oncology, KU Cancer Center, and Cancer Action. The organizers of this event have all been affected by cancer in some way, they are all athletes, and they are all working hard to raise awareness and critical funding in the fight against cancer.
When the event directors inquired about donating our time and effort for this event we jumped at the opportunity as cyclists, as musicians, and as people who each have a close friend or family member currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
As such, we look forward to supporting these great local cancer resources and helping kick off this new event. In fact, if the schedule allows, the band intends to join the riders on one of the shorter routes before taking the stage at the post-party to help entertain the riders.
While we’re not experts as cyclists or musicians – taken together we hope that we can play a small part in a big event that will have a huge impact on local cancer research and support.
So come out and ride your bike for a great cause; newbie, amateur, or expert cyclist – all are welcome and will enjoy the 25km, 50km, or 100km course.
We ride for, and we play for, Children’s Mercy, the KU Cancer Center, Cancer Action, and our friends and family. Who do you ride for?
See you on August 24th!
