Good Luck Athletes & New Music From Kona and Kansas City!

2013 GoPro Ironman World Championship

It’s Thursday morning in Kona and that can only mean one thing: the infamous Underpants Run!

While we’re saddened that we couldn’t be in Kona this year for the 2013 GoPro Ironman World Championship we did manage to pull together a little creativity, Ironband style, in honor of a man who has been part of Kona and the triathlon community for many years.

When Ironband arrived in Kona last year the first thing we saw was a text from none other than Glenn, “The Godfather” of triathlon and reigning King of the Carnies. A simple “Buckle Up Bitches” was all it took to convey what a week in Kona had in store for us.

With tracks recorded simultaneously in Kona and Kansas City just this week– we give you what is surely the first song recorded, mixed, and set to video while the athletes are preparing for Saturday’s big race: Buckle Up Bitches, an Ode to the Godfather.

While Kansas City lost a big soul in the Godfather this year as he migrated to the west coast to be closer to family we are fortunate enough to still have him as part of the global triathlon family and look forward to that next text message welcoming us to race week in an exotic part of the world.

Cheers Godfather, and good luck to everyone competing (or spectating) in Kona on Saturday!
