Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2012 Kansas City Triathlon / 5i50 race yesterday!
We saw some strong performances out on the course from our vantage-point atop a flatbed trailer and we hope that you all had a good time and enjoyed the live tunes.
There were a few Ironband cams out there to capture the fun. If you raced, you were probably captured in the video below that is accompanied by the live audio recording from the day and if you look closely you may find yourself. However, given that we crammed the entire race into six minutes of video it may be more challenging that you think.
In addition to our usual set list of original Ironband tunes and a handful of covers we also performed a new song for the first time yesterday that was appropriate given yesterday’s outcome at the 2012 Ironman Florida 70.3. If you didn’t hear, Lance Armstrong won the race in a big way, beating the 2nd place finisher by an astonishing 10 minutes.
Ironband has a song about Lance in the works that should be released soon and so it’s fitting that it was played live for the first time on the day that Lance captured his first Ironman 70.3 title. For bonus points, can you find it in the video above? For added bonus points, can you find your esteemed Kansas City Triathlon race director in the video?
But back to Kansas….a number of our friends were racing and many of them took home age-group awards or qualified for the US 5i50 National Championship so congratulations to you all!
A big thanks to everyone who came by to say hi, dance, or cheer, and to the KC Tri Crew for having us at your event.
We’ll see you out on the course soon!
